Target 7.2: Green Procurement

As of April 1, 2014, the Government of Canada will continue to take action to embed environmental considerations into public procurement, in accordance with the federal Policy on Green Procurement.

Scope and Context

In addition to leveraging the benefits of PWGSC’s green procurement instruments, SIRC’s strategy for maximizing green procurement includes increasing awareness, providing training for key resources and creating performance measures for managers of procurement and materiel.

Percentage of newly hired specialists in procurement and/or materiel management will who have completed the Canada School of Public Service Green Procurement course or equivalent within 3 months of starting at SIRC. 100% of newly hired specialists in procurement and/or materiel management will have completed the Green Procurement course within 3 months of starting at SIRC.
Number and percentage of managers and functional heads of procurement and materiel whose performance evaluation includes support and contribution towards green procurement, in fiscal year 2014-15. A total of 1 manager, representing 100% of all responsible managers and functional heads of procurement, will have criteria regarding their contribution towards green procurement incorporated into their performance evaluations.
